On Saturday 31st August ECCQ’s Chronic Disease Program kicked off the first “Healthy Habits, Healthy You, Healthy Myanmar Community” breakfast event in Logan, with more than 80 community members, including families and children.
This event was funded by the Alcohol and Drug Foundation and delivered by the Australian Myanmar Friendship Association and ECCQ, in partnership with Metro South Addiction and Mental Health Services.
The breakfast delivered culturally appropriate education sessions on immunity and food, including COVID-19 and flu prevention, alcohol, drugs and their related harms, in English, Burmese and Karenni. The community had the chance to discuss important health issues and exercise together. This has fostered relationships and improved knowledge, creating healthier and stronger multicultural communities.
