Listen to conversations about culturally and linguistically diverse Australians living well with a disability. People with disabilities and other guest speakers share stories, advice and resources about accessible and inclusive places and activities around Australia.
The Speak My Language (Disability) program involves people with disabilities from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and Indigenous communities, and other guest speakers, sharing practical tips and resources to support living well with a disability. Content is available in 25 languages and provided as free downloads of interviews, radio broadcasts and YouTube videos.
Over the past two years, ECCQ has worked with Brisbane’s local ethnic radio broadcasting station, Radio4EB, to broadcast and amplify many different episodes of Speak My Language. We have been so fortunate to be included in the programs run by the amazing volunteers, all in their community languages.
In 2024, ECCQ held several community events to share information about Speak My Language across the state of Queensland. We got in touch with different community groups to find out what people have loved most about the program. At a panel event, we opened poignant conversations about how we can all work towards making our world more accessible with esteemed guest speakers Sara Shams and Shawn Phua. Fast forward to 2025, and we had the opportunity to collaborate with Sara and Shawn on brand new episodes of Speak My Language!
Now available on the Speak My Language YouTube channel and Facebook page are all new podcasts produced by ECCQ! Three episodes are in Auslan, and three in Bengali. All the episodes centre on the lived experiences of multicultural Australians living with disabilities, and explore topics such as community, cultural safety, and what it means to live well with a disability.

Speak My Language (Disability) was funded by the Commonwealth Department of Social Services and is proudly delivered via a historic partnership between all State and Territory Ethnic and Multicultural Communities’ Councils across Australia.
