This month, our Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) Community Foundation Skills class welcomed Police Liaison Officers (PLOs) from Logan for an open and empowering conversation about understanding Australian law.
For many of our learners who are deeply committed to keeping their families safe and connected, this session was more than just informative. It was a chance to engage directly with trusted local representatives in a culturally respectful and supportive environment.
The PLOs were warm, approachable, and deeply respectful. They explained complex legal terms in simple English and Kiswahili, creating space for sensitive conversations that are often difficult to express in English alone. This multilingual approach helped break down barriers and fostered genuine dialogue.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Logan PLOs for their commitment to building trust, listening with empathy, and supporting our multicultural communities.
