We are excited to launch the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Project, a collaboration between Queensland Injectors Health Network (QuIHN) and ECCQ, funded by the Queensland Mental Health Commission. This project aims to reduce barriers to AOD services for multicultural communities and help combat stigma. We will be conducting community consultations and co-designing culturally appropriate education resources. If you’re interested in participating, please contact health@eccq.com.au.
We are also extending our free rapid hepatitis B and C testing until the end of 2025. Over the past six months, we tested 328 people from over 23 different communities, with 28 testing positives for hepatitis C antibodies and 4 for hepatitis B. Our confidential testing is available at community events, education workshops, information stalls, and community centres. To book a test or learn more, contact health@eccq.com.au.
To raise awareness of HIV, we held a range of World AIDS Day promotion activities last November including videos, social media posts, newspaper articles, workshops and information stalls in Inala and Sunnybank. If you would like to access HIV resources in multiple languages, please visit www.eccq.com.au/bbv.
