This year the Multicultural Partners team has delivered “Communicating Across Cultures” training for Comlink staff from various regions in Queensland, including Cairns, Mackay, North Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Hervey Bay and Bundaberg. In May and June 2024, 85 staff attended in Sunshine Coast, Bundaberg and Hervey Bay regions. The sessions were interactive which included videos and individual and group activities.
Participants enjoyed the training and provided the following feedback:
- “We continue to improve our process in a culturally considered way”.
- “(The training) helped me understand different client requirements”.
- “I’ll be more mindful and aware (when) working with other cultures”.
- “They have helped me become more confident when approaching clients from different backgrounds”.
We have also delivered the same training to Churches of Christ Care in Sunshine Coast, Hervey Bay, Bundaberg and Gin Gin to about 80 staff.
