As part of Queensland Youth Week, ECCQ’s Youth Ethnic Network (YEN) launched the year with an inspiring forum, From Resume to Reality. The event brought together young multicultural Queenslanders for an evening of networking, learning, and empowerment.
Attendees heard powerful stories and practical advice from emerging leaders who shared how they’ve navigated career challenges, seized opportunities, and broken barriers.
“We learn every day that real education comes not only from mastering a skill but also from applying it in the real world and sharing it with others,” said the YEN Leadership Team — Divin Dominic, Mercy Nderitu, and Gustavo Pazo. “YEN was created to listen, support, guide, and empower the future leaders in our community.”
A highlight of the evening was keynote speaker and panellist Daniela Castro (Digital Consultant & Community Advocate), who delivered an inspiring “recipe for success.” The forum also featured moving contributions from Duku Fore, Chair of the Duku Fore Foundation, and Mu Shwe, a senior immigration lawyer, whose stories resonated with all in attendance.
ECCQ CEO Lisa Ward addressed the crowd, noting, “Young people in the workplace push others to think outside the box… you are innovative, creative and you think sustainably—essential qualities for building an Australia where everyone belongs.”
