On 13 August, we hosted our annual Diversity and Inclusion Forum, in partnership with Ageing Australia in Cairns. The event brought together aged care providers and multicultural sector experts to explore strategies for embedding diversity and inclusion in aged care.
Dr John Bosco Ngendakurio, ECCQ’s General Manager of Peak Body, delivered a powerful keynote on the lifelong impact of the migration and refugee journey on ageing multicultural communities. Furthermore, Despina Amanatidou, Head of Interpreting at 2M Language Services, highlighted the critical role of professional interpreters in health and aged care.
A key highlight was the stakeholder discussions facilitated by Vanessa Moran, Workplace Psychologist and Principal Consultant at MAPIEN, and organised by Ageing Australia. These sessions sparked valuable conversations on workforce development and inclusive care.
We thank Ageing Australia for their continued commitment to inclusive aged care and for being such a passionate and collaborative partner. Special thanks also to Cairns Regional Council for hosting us in their beautiful venue.
