This month, I was delighted to congratulate the Hon. Fiona Simpson MP as Queensland’s new Minister for Women and Women’s Economic Security, Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, and Minister for Multiculturalism. I had the pleasure of meeting with Minister Simpson to discuss exciting opportunities to engage with multicultural community leaders and communities. Our conversation demonstrated a shared commitment to advancing inclusion and amplifying diverse voices across the state. ECCQ looks forward to collaborating closely with Minister Simpson.
It’s further wonderful to see the appointment of two Assistant Ministers in portfolios of significant importance to multicultural communities, including Mr. Hermann Vorster MP, Assistant Minister for Multicultural Affairs and International Student Attraction, and Dr. Christian Rowan MP, Assistant Minister to the Premier on Matters of State and New Citizens. Their leadership underscores the growing recognition of diversity, dignity and equity as vital parts of Queensland’s growing social and economic fabric.
On another note, I’m pleased to share that ECCQ’s 2023-2024 Annual Report is now available on our website. This report reflects the incredible work we’ve achieved together, and I encourage you to read it to celebrate our milestones and the impact of our collective efforts.
