2023 Gold Coast Diversity and Inclusion Forum

The 2023 Gold Coast Diversity and Inclusion Forum was held at Robina Community Centre on Wednesday 4 October. Hosted by the Multicultural Advisory Service’s Multicultural Advisor, Rhee Duthie, the day brought together a diverse group of professionals from across sectorsfrom the Commonwealth Home Support Programme, Aged Care, disability and community health service providers to universities and community leaders.

Thank you to Yugambeh man Uncle John Graham who set the tone of the day with his Welcome to Country. Thank you also to our speakers Dr Melissa Taitimu – Maia Psychology, Elise Webber – Carers Queensland, Harpreet Kalsi-Smith – The Kindness Company, Savita Gurung – City of Gold Coast and Meredith Elton  – Tweed Shire Council.

It was day that sparked emotion with the sharing of lived experiences, inspired discussion, and advocated for action in the workplace to improve how diverse community members, particularly our seniors, can be heard, included and connected. Attendees also shared the personal and professional impact of networking, shared learnings and wellbeing.

We received an overwhelmingly positive feedback on the day, including:

“Thank you for an uplifting session – came back to the office – happy fulfilled and gained lots of knowledge.”

“Excellent Forum – [Speakers] were amazing.”

“Thank you, Rhee – You always create an amazing safe warm environment for learning and coming together.”
