As part of the Multicultural Older Person Network partnership, ECCQ, Deaf Connect, Metro-South Health and Multilink delivered “How can I communicate with you? an information workshop on working with Deaf older people, aimed at aged care and health staff.
More than thirty participants learnt about the barriers that deaf people experience and learnt about the importance of engaging professional interpreters through the National Sign Language program that provides free access to Auslan and other interpreters. The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive.
