Video Series: Understanding Aged Care

Welcome to our four-part video series, Understanding Aged Care: Your Care, Your Culture, Your Way.

This series is here to support multicultural communities in better understanding and navigating aged care, with respect for their cultures, choices and autonomy.

Chapter 1- Aged Care for Multicultural Communities: Unpacking Misconceptions

In the first video, we explore common misconceptions that can shape how aged care is viewed in multicultural communities. These perceptions can lead to confusion and fears, which may prevent many people of multicultural backgrounds from seeking the support they or their loved ones may need.

Chapter 2- Facing Fears and Finding Support to Live your Best Life

Aged care isn’t about taking over, it’s about providing the right support so older people can live with dignity, independence, and connection. This video explores how aged care works alongside families, not instead of them, and highlights the importance of culturally appropriate care that respects each person’s unique background, values, and needs.

Chapter 3- How the Levels of Help Work

Aged care is flexible, built around your goals, and adapts as your needs change. In this video, we explore the different levels of support you may be eligible for, so you can make informed decisions that suit you and your family.

Chapter 4- Getting Started: How to Access My Aged Care

Thinking about aged care for yourself or a loved one? This video helps you take the first step with confidence. Learn how to access My Aged Care, the Australian Government’s platform for aged care services.
