History Club, Run by Berlasco Resident Mr. Roger Scott

Roger Scott, a Berlasco resident and former House Master at Hobart University, has turned his lifelong passion for history into a vibrant community activity. After retiring, Roger and his wife Ann traveled extensively before settling back in Australia, where he joined the University of the Third Age (U3A) in Brisbane. U3A is a self-funded organisation offering intellectually stimulating activities for retirees, keeping their minds active and engaged.

Upon moving to Berlasco, Roger continued his involvement with U3A through regular video group chats, exploring various historical and social topics. His enthusiasm soon led to the creation of the “History Club,” a collaboration with the Berlasco team. This initiative provides a platform for Roger to share his knowledge and maintain his interests, while also offering other residents a mentally stimulating and socially engaging activity.

Starting with just four residents, the History Club has grown into one of Berlasco’s most popular monthly events, now co-led by other enthusiastic residents like Elizabeth Scarlett, David Carseldine, and D’Arcy Burg.
