In response to the Department of Home Affairs Humanitarian Program 2022-23 discussion paper, ECCQ developed the following submission.
This submission brings together views and stories collected across 2022 through numerous consultations and engagements with our members and communities. We have collated the stories of people from a refugee background in Australia and those they are connected to overseas who are living in unsafe, desperate, and dire conditions. This included collaboration with numerous community associations and organisations including but not limited to Multicultural Communities Council Gold Coast, the Chin Alliance for Human Rights, Voices of Care, Australia Chin Community Council, Australian Karen Organisation, Karenni Community of Queensland and the Kunama Community in Queensland.
