Lunar New Year with Health Messages

After welcoming the new year on 1st January, 2024, our Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean communities began celebrating Lunar New Year starting Friday 10th February. This year marks the Year of the Dragon, symbolizing power and change conductive to life improvement, including health.

Taking advantage of this occasion, we promoted health messages at the Tet Festival, the largest Lunar New Year event in Brisbane, which is celebrated by the Vietnamese community in Southeast Queensland and attracted numerous multicultural communities to attend. Following two-day celebration, we relocated our stall to Phat Da Temple in Inala to distribute our health resources to more people. If you are interested in accessing our multilingual resources, please visit our website www.eccq.com.au/bbv or email health@eccq.com.au for copies.

“Get tested, get monitored and get treated! These are crucial messages for our community members, especially those experiencing health issues, knowingly and unknowingly, such as chronic hepatitis, which normally do not show symptoms and require lifelong monitoring post diagnosis. With an increase in STIs (Sexually Transmissible Infections) in Australia, it is imperative to priorities prevention and seek treatment promptly, as these conditions can be life-threating. Condoms are still the best method for preventing pregnancy, STIs and HIV. You can order free condoms on our website www.eccq.com.au/condoms.
We wish everyone a healthy and prosperous new year!
