EOI – Bilingual Health and Community Care Project

Be a part of the movement toward a more culturally diverse and health-focused workforce by joining forces with Ethnic Communities Council of Qld (ECCQ) and True Relationships & Reproductive Health (True) to deliver a ground-breaking research project.

ECCQ and True seek expressions of interest from people to drive an exciting new project funded by the Qld Care Consortium, designed to build bilingual health and community care workforce capability.

People with experience in the multicultural and or research sectors are encouraged to apply for the following project roles:

Project Coordinator – Multicultural Health

Project Assistant – Multicultural Health

The Project, Bilingual Health Educators and Community Care – an emerging workforce for a culturally inclusive health and community care system, is a partnership between ECCQ and True and seeks to ‘scale-up’ a well-trained, recognised and valued bilingual health and community care workforce in Queensland. This will equip Queensland to better respond to major health and community care challenges.

The evidence tells us that health for people of CALD backgrounds can deteriorate over time due to limited culturally appropriate services, language barriers; negative effects of acculturation and low socio-economic status (Queensland Health, 2023).

The ultimate outcome is to develop and promote career pathways for bilingual educators and support workers in health and community care that support and produce more workers in this high need, high skill occupation.

People from multicultural sector are encouraged to apply for either or both of the following roles:

Project Coordinator – Multicultural health

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Coordinator – Multicultural Health to strengthen the bilingual health and community care workforce. These are workers who provide health and community service support in a culturally responsive way – often communicating in language.

We’re looking for a multi-skilled, team member who: (i) is an experienced networker and organiser with an understanding of the multicultural workforce, and (ii) can build strong working relationships with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and sectors.

You’ll be part of an enthusiastic team of staff from True, Ethnic Communities Council Queensland, and other partner organisations. Together we will identify training needs and career pathways to strengthen the bilingual workforce capability in the health and community services sectors in Queensland.
