As part of our Love Health Program, we are offering free hepatitis B and hepatitis C testing for members of multicultural communities in Queensland, including people with a temporary visa. The test is quick and easy, using a finger prick, with results available in just 30 minutes. This free service is part of the national Point of Care Testing Project, led by the Kirby Institute at UNSW.
Since launching in August, we have tested 162 individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. We have made testing easily accessible by offering it at community centres, local community events, aged care facilities, libraries, and English classes throughout Brisbane and Logan. All results are confidential and can be delivered to participants in their preferred method – face-to-face, by text, emails, or letter.
If you are unsure of your status, getting tested is important to reduce the risk of liver cancer. For more information or to arrange a time and location for testing, please contact the Program Manager at zhihongg@eccq.com.au. We will arrange a suitable time and location for your testing.
If you speak a language other than English and need assistance, we offer free language support through our bilingual community health workers or interpreters.
Our Program also offers free education sessions on hepatitis, HIV, sexual health and healthy relationships in multiple language. For more details or to book a session, please contact us at health@eccq.com.au.
