CEO Message August 2024

Members Meeting

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended our recent members meeting hosted by ECCQ’s health programs. Your participation and insights are vital as we continue our work to promote health and well-being across our diverse communities. Special appreciation goes to all our speakers and panel members, including ECCQ Chair and event MC Mr. Elijah Buol OAM, as well as program managers Hong Do and Zhihong Gu, Bahar Nader, Christine Olengo, Margie Nightingale MP (Member for Inala), and Pastor Maile Molitika.

Multicultural Queensland Month

As August Multicultural Month comes to a close, I’ve had the pleasure of celebrating with many of our communities. This month has reinforced my commitment to advocating for inclusion and diversity in all that we do. I want to acknowledge the incredible skills and contributions that migrants and refugees bring to enrich multicultural Queensland.

The annual Multicultural Queensland Awards on 23rd August highlighted the outstanding work being done within our multicultural community and sector. It was truly inspiring to see the dedication and impact that so many are making to advance multicultural Queensland.

A special congratulations to all the award winners. I am particularly proud that ECCQ was honored in the Multicultural Sector Outstanding Achievers category, recognizing the remarkable work of our Women’s Ethnic Network in advocating for women’s safety. I greatly value the insights and advice they provide me on important women’s issues.

FECCA Conference Update

Finally, I wanted to once again remind you about the 2024 FECCA Conference, if you have not already registered to attend. It will be held in Brisbane between 16 and 17 October, and we would like your help in promoting it. Registrations are still open and can be completed through the FECCA website.
