What happens when a person is diagnosed with dementia? Does the human behind the diagnosis disappear? How does culture play a role in dementia care? This online course invites you to explore these questions in a thought-provoking and empathetic way.
Through this new self-paced online course, aged care workers will develop an understanding of how dementia impacts the person and will learn how curiosity and kindness can support culturally responsive care for people living with dementia from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
Developed and facilitated by gerontologist and founder of Between Neurons, Daniela Russo, the course includes three modules and a final interactive case study. All together will take no more than 45 minutes to complete, and your progress is automatically saved so you can leave at any time and return when it suits you.
Access the course through our Aged Care Training Hub, where you can also find our Introduction to Cultural Awareness in Aged Care course.
This course was funded by the Australian Government under the Partners in Culturally Appropriate Care (PICAC) program.
