The ECCQ Chair, Board of Directors and I pay tribute to the life and times of the late Dr Bill Whiten who sadly passed away after a two year battle with leukemia. Our thoughts go out to his wife Agnes who was a former ECCQ Chairperson.
Vale Bill Whiten.
Congratulations to our former long-time ECCQ Board member and community leader Victoria Zografos, who was recently awarded an OAM for her work at ECCQ, her services through schools and commitment to the Greek community at large.
Thank you to all who responded to the ECCQ Women’s Ethnic Network expression of interest. Network planning has commenced and members will be contacted soon.
ECCQ is proud to partner with the Human Rights Commission and more than 20 Community Coalition members representing Queensland’s diverse ethnic and religious communities. We have come together to collectively campaign for stronger protections for our communities from hate crime and vilification. Consultation is underway with our political leaders to amend Queensland laws. Please visit www.betterlaws4safeqld.com.au for more information.
As always, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me if you would like to raise an issue or discuss pathways towards a more cohesive and just Queensland.
