Message from our CEO Peter Last

This year continues to be one of challenges and change. We see communities standing up against discrimination and human rights violations. We see communities coming together and walking the walk towards a brighter future.

COVID-19 has taken a toll on our multicultural communities, which has exacerbated existing issues and created some new challenges.  In our recent Members’ Meeting we heard from our members, community and sector leaders and members of government, about the real life impacts facing our community and what is occurring to support us going forward.  You can read more about the meeting in this newsletter.

ECCQ continues the endeavour of being the voice of multicultural communities in Queensland by ensuring that concerns and issues are relayed to government and decision makers the best way possible. It is only through the engagement of our members that we can continue to do so. We therefore ask you all to continue expressing concerns and ideas for ways forward in these unprecedented times of change.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me if you would like to raise an issue or discuss obstacles or pathways towards a more cohesive and just Queensland.

Best wishes,
Peter Last
